About Yumi
Grow up in Taiwan and Japan. I started dabbling in the art of calligraphy at the age of 6 and have since been developing my distinctive approach towards ancient script. After moved to Japan, I studied oil painting, sketching, contemporary art, photography and challenged many type of Arts in Japan.
In the pursuit of a true Art I found a way to my spiritual expression within the Chinese and Japanese Calligraphy. Since then the brush is rooted to my heart.
In 2009 I focused on Chinese traditional calligraphy and I studied under the Master Liu Hong in Japan. The following year I was awarded the highest title of “Professor” by the Chinese Calligraphy Academy accredited by the Shanghai University and given the calligrapher name ”Gaxing”（雅心）
While doing my calligraphy Art, I also worked on projects such as Live performance, various type of design and Contemporary Ink paintings.
I continue to produce artworks and strives to convey the essence of peace, the Zen philosophy, in my calligraphy.

Basically relax your hand and mind. Everyone is different and want to prove different way. Let's write what you like and paint together.
Artistic Characters and rules:
• Every Chinese character is built up in its own square with variety of structure and composition.
• There are drawing of only three basic forms: the circle, the triangle, and the square.
• For each character there is a definite number of strokes and appointed positions for them in relation to the whole.
• No stroke may be added or deleted for decorative effect.
• Strict regularity is not required.
• The pattern should have a living movement.
Calligraphy Training:
• Learn how to handle the brush and to grid the ink
• Practice strokes and lines by write over in black ink the trace lines of characters.
• Copy from the good calligraphy models, using graph paper.
• Learn to raise the wrist and elbow in making a stroke. This is the method for writing medium sized or larger characters.
