I have spent the better part of 10 years working with and around kids and young adults who have taught me that their generation is capable of important changes and ideas; but you have to know how to write an essay first. Every student is different. I tend to meet my students where they are and work with their brains rather than against them. I start by speaking with my students and seeing how they learn and what has been effective for them in the past. I then use these tools to help find the right tool to get that ah-ha moment whether it be flashcards, games, hands-on projects, or other mnemonic devices. I typically work with middle school students but have worked with ages 4-18 throughout my time as a tutor.
