About Greg
I'm Greg and I love helping students gain confidence and mastery in math. I am recently retired and my career includes 25 years teaching algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, and precalculus at the high school level in Modesto, California. Prior to teaching, I was a math tutor at the junior college I attended. Currently, I am tutoring all of the above subjects daily at the high school I retired from. I have a BA and MA in mathematics and have maintained my teaching credential with the state of California.

I enjoy helping students understand difficult math concepts by breaking them down to a rudimentary level and patiently explaining these concepts. My approach to teaching is to lead students to understanding new concepts by asking questions that draw out their own previous mathematical knowledge and combine that with the new concept to be mastered. I want them to see how what they already know is useful in acquiring new mathematical knowledge. With my extensive experience, I am able to quickly diagnose deficiencies in elementary math concepts and help build students' skills in these areas so they can be successful in their current math course. I enjoy seeing students become successful and gain confidence in their math abilities as I work with them. I look forward to helping you make math make sense!
