About Megan

Hi! I’m Megan, a first-year science student at UBC tutoring Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics online and in person. Having recently graduated with top marks in advanced high school STEM courses, I understand exactly where students get stuck and how to break down complex concepts.
My lessons focus on clarity, targeted practice, and structured reinforcement. After each session, students receive short, written summary notes to help with active recall. I am punctual, patient, and bilingual—fluent in both English and Cantonese depending on what the student is most comfortable with.
Availability: Weekday evenings (online) and weekends (online or in-person on campus/local libraries).

About the lesson

Methodology
I use a diagnostic-first approach: a quick assessment to find gaps, followed by clear, step-by-step explanations and visual aids. I focus on core concept understanding, worked examples, and active recall through practice problems and mini quizzes.

Typical Lesson Plan
- 10 min: Diagnostic check and homework review
- 25–35 min: Targeted instruction and worked examples
- 10–15 min: Guided practice and/or a mini-quiz
- 5 min: Summary wrap-up, homework assignment, and progress notes

Who Lessons Are For

It was pretty good! Drake got into the video platform on time and even early. There weren't any technological problems, which was great! Instead of Chemistry, we actually looked over Physics, but that was no problem.
Looking forward to next time!

My rates include much more than just our direct lesson time. I prepare before every session by reviewing class materials and building a lesson tailored to your specific pace. I provide custom practice worksheets, review notes, and curated exam-style questions. After each lesson, I create concise progress notes and custom study guides so you always know what to focus on next.
Included Extras:
Between-lesson homework check-ins are completely free of charge.
A 30-minute first session is free so we can discuss your goals and figure out what approach works best for you.
Session Formats & Logistics:
Standard Lessons: Sessions start at 60 minutes, with the option to extend to 90 minutes during midterm and final exam seasons.
Location & Travel: Lessons can be held online or in-person (on campus or at local libraries). For in-person sessions, the rate covers travel time and study space coordination.
