About Hosein
I'm a student at UBC studying Business and Computer Science. My family immigrated to Canada 10 years ago, and navigating a new education system in a second language taught me how to learn difficult material efficiently and how to explain it clearly to others.
I have two years of hands-on experience tutoring and coaching students in math and basketball, working with elementary and high school students of all skill levels. I know how to read a student, adapt my approach, and make challenging subjects feel manageable rather than overwhelming.
I have excelled in Math, Statistics, Economics, and Chemistry at both the high school and university level, so I teach from genuine understanding, not just from a textbook. My sessions are structured, focused, and always tailored to what you specifically need, whether that is building foundational confidence, preparing for an exam, or pushing for a top grade.

My lessons are built around one goal: making sure you actually understand, not just memorize. I came to Canada 10 years ago and had to figure out Math, Statistics, and Chemistry in a second language, so I know exactly where students get stuck and why. I teach the way I wish someone had taught me: starting with the concept before the formula, using real examples that make the material click, and moving at whatever pace works for you.
A typical session starts by identifying exactly where the confusion is, not just what question you got wrong, but why. From there we build understanding from the ground up, work through practice problems together, and I make sure you can solve similar problems independently before we move on.
