About Charis
I’m a UCL graduate and current postgraduate student at Tsinghua University with over two years of experience teaching English. I’ve worked with students of different ages and backgrounds through online tutoring and with the British Council, supporting everything from exam preparation to confidence in everyday communication.
My academic background in journalism and global affairs has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, explain complex ideas simply, and adapt to each learner’s needs. I’m patient, professional and approachable, and I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and improving consistently.

I take a supportive, structured and personalised approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to the learner’s goals, confidence level and preferred learning style. My sessions focus on building strong reading, writing and communication skills through discussion, guided practice and clear, practical feedback, while keeping lessons engaging and encouraging.
A typical lesson lasts 45–50 minutes and combines skill development, targeted exercises and real-world application (such as conversation, comprehension or writing tasks). I have over two years’ experience tutoring English internationally and have worked with learners from a wide range of cultural and academic backgrounds, including through my work with the British Council and online tutoring platforms.
My lessons are suitable for primary, secondary and adult learners, including students preparing for exams, professionals looking to improve communication skills, and anyone aiming to build confidence in English, literacy or reading.
