About Poppy
I am a recent graduate looking to build my teaching experience before applying to study a teaching degree next year. I love this work as I find it incredibly rewarding to help students overcome what challenges them. Whilst I find English very fun and interesting now, I used to struggle with it a lot at school; I am motivated to help students who may not currently enjoy studying English to find the fun in the subject.

I began tutoring last year for Higher and National 5 English and modern studies students. I have a strong understanding of the Scottish curriculum and am confident in supporting text/data analysis, essay writing and reading comprehension. My sessions are typically 60 minutes long and are tailored to the student's specific needs.
I am also an experienced primary teaching assistant capable of supporting children aged 5-12 with their reading, writing, maths and spelling. My sessions for younger children can be 30-60 minutes and can be centred around homework support or extra exercises that support their development.
I always ensure to build relationships with my students to understand what learning techniques they respond best to.
