About Alex

I'm a Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing and finishing my PhD in Consumer Behaviour. I have also worked in the University of Liverpool library KnowHow team (concealed information) as a qualified writing tutor helping students from undergraduate through to doctoral level in enhancing their writing. Lastly, I am Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and qualified lecturer in Management in Marketing (previous module leader and examiner).

With my background I know exactly know what good academic work looks like, and more importantly, I know how to help you get there without making the process more stressful than it needs to be. I'm not going to give you generic advice or a list of tips you could have Googled or ChatGPT'd. My sessions are practical, focused, and built around whatever you're actually stuck on. If that sounds like what you need, feel free to get in touch.

About the lesson

My sessions are tailored to where you are in your dissertation or academic writing journey. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you need help developing a research question, structuring your argument, navigating quantitative or qualitative methods, or tightening up your academic writing style, we'll work through it together at your pace.

Each session starts by identifying exactly where you're stuck and what you need to move forward. From there, we'll build a clear plan so you're not just getting through the next chapter — you're developing the skills and confidence to see the whole project through.

I work mainly with business, marketing, social science, philosophy, sociology, and psychology students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and I'm comfortable supporting both home and international students. My background is in consumer behaviour research, but the skills I teach (critical thinking, research design, clear academic writing) apply across disciplines.

Alex

I met Alex at university, where he was my tutor during both my final bachelor's and master's years. From the very first session, what stood out was his ability to listen actively. He never needed a lot of context to understand the problem I was facing, and he had a remarkable way of breaking down complex marketing and business concepts so they actually landed.

What I appreciate most is that Alex goes the extra mile. During my final year, preparing for my last assignment, I was overwhelmed. Rather than just focusing on the work, he took the time to give me some personal advice on how to manage the stress.

I ended up finishing with a First. I genuinely believe his support and patience made a difference. I highly recommend him!
