About Amber
When I went to college, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. In my junior year, however, I took a slight detour and joined the military as a US Navy Reserve Corpsman (medic). After earning my bachelors degree, I went to boot camp and eventually corpsman school. Going through my trainng I learned a lot and was able to help my peers learn concepts in different ways. After training I went to work in a family medicine office for several years as a Medical Assistant and Scribe for a physician. I was able to teach patients about their medications and different lifestyles that worked best for their conditions. I learned a lot while working in the family medicine clinic and I am still learning as I continue as a corpsman. I want to take my experiences with anatomy, physiology, and biology and help students understand concepts in different ways. I have always been a tactile learner (I learn best working with my hands) and excelled in the lab, but I remember there were times in the classroom that I had a hard time grasping concepts because I did not learn well by just listening. I know everyone learns in different ways, so I teach concepts in different ways.

Every student is different and deserves a teacher that understands that. Each lesson will integrate both lectured notes and activities/visuals related to the topics to ensure the learning and cognitive needs of the students are met. I teach at a 9th-12th grade level.
