About Abi
I am a 21 year old with a love for maths, but also an understanding that having a love for maths is something rare! I want to help people who struggle to understand it so they can progress through the necessary education to be able to pursue what they really want in life.
Priding myself on being non-judgemental, I promise to provide a comfortable environment that works to build your confidence in your abilities. There is never a silly question, and there is nothing wrong with saying ‘I don’t understand’. That’s a sign of ineffective teaching, and a sign that I need to change my approach to explaining the topic!
I am very passionate about how broken the education system is. No student should be held back from a career simply because they struggle with maths. My goal is to help you get the grades you need in order to progress onto a pathway that excites and fulfils you. Maths may not be your thing, and that is completely fine. I’d like to help you get through the compulsory exams so that you never have to look at maths again if you don’t want to!

I’m a strong believer that when students don’t understand something, it is due to poor / ineffective teaching.
I’d work with you to explain maths in a way that is specific to you and translates difficult concepts into a a more understandable manner. If that means incorporating your hobbies and interests into mathematical analogies, so be it!
I achieved A*s in both Maths (Higher) and Maths Numeracy (Higher). Aside from maths, I achieved 6 A*s, 4 As, and a D**.
In my Access to Engineering course at college, I achieved 45/45 credits across the year, including for my maths modules.
During my engineering foundation year at the University of Southampton, I have achieved a 2-1 in my first maths module, and a 1st in my second maths module. For all my STEM modules, I achieved an average of 83%.
I am progressing on to MSc Mechanical Engineering with Industry Placement Year in September.
I spent 3 years out of formal education following my GCSEs due to poor health. I understand what it means to struggle with the education system, and appreciate how difficult it is to work towards good grades. I hope to make a comfortable, judgement-free environment where you are seen as more than your academic abilities.
