About Alex
I have been playing violin since I was 8 years old. I have 20 years of orchestral playing experience and a degree in music from The University of Waikato. I have a background in piano and music composition and I use that experience to develop musical ideas for students when I teach violin. I enjoy listening to a wide variety of genres including classical music and am enthusiastic about seeing other people grow in their enjoyment and love of music!

I teach violin and viola up to grade 8. I focus on getting students to be able to produce a good tone with simple techniques. I have a background in the Suzuki method and focus on similar aspects including ear training and memorisation, however I do not teach a pure Suzuki method.
Lesson length varies depending on the age and level of the student.
