About Nilgun
Hi
I was involved as an academician in my institute, Istanbul University State Conservatory where I was a research member and a violin teacher. My students were among between 7 and 12 years old and I encouraged my students for active concerts and masterclasses. My doctoral proposals are concentrated and narrowed in technical difficulties of violinistic approach such as the use of 4th finger exercises and approach with shoulder rest.
Since 1998, I have performed as a member of leading orchestras in Turkey such as Akbank Chamber Orchestra, Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, Milli Reasurans Chamber Orchestra, Cemal Resit Rey Symphonic Orchestra and Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra. Since 2002, I have been active as concertmaster of Milli Reasurans Chamber Orchestra. Since 2008, I have been the assistant principle of second violins in the famous Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra which performed in BBC Proms in 2014.
I had the opportunity to perform under the baton of many internationally and nationally famous conductors such as James Judd, Yoel Levi, Sir James Galway, Lorenzo Viotti, Alexander Rahbari, Ludovic Morlot, Ryan McAdams, John Axelrod, Helmuth Rilling, Peter Gulke, Krzysztof Penderecki, Antonio Pirolli, Sascha Goetzel, Domingo Hindoyan.
As a violinist, I gave recitals and get together with various musicians and perform regularly in chamber music concerts. One of my goals has always been to grow as a violinist. I always strived for the best. In this prospect, I have participated in masterclasses with Izak Rashkovsky, Vadim Gluzman, Shlomo Mintz and Ernst Kovacic.
