About Avalon
I’m Avalon Gatenby, a passionate musician and educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Voice from WAAPA. With years of experience performing in opera, musical theater, classical, pop, folk, and jazz, I bring a broad and versatile approach to both music and teaching. I’ve trained in both the Bel Canto and Estill vocal methods, which gives me a strong technical foundation and the flexibility to adapt to each student’s unique voice and learning style. I believe in building healthy, sustainable vocal technique while nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Teaching is one of my greatest joys! I love helping students of all ages discover their voice and grow not just as singers, but as confident individuals. Whether you're aiming for a professional path or simply want to sing for joy, I'm here to support your journey with patience, enthusiasm, and a personalized approach.

My teaching is grounded in the Bel Canto and Estill vocal methods, and I tailor every lesson to suit each student’s individual voice, goals, and learning style. Whether you're looking to build strong technique, prepare for auditions, or just sing for fun, I create a supportive and enjoyable environment for vocal growth.
I have experience teaching students aged 4 to 25, and love helping singers of all levels gain confidence, expand their range, and express themselves through music.
