About Austin
I am a passionate working musician with experience playing in a wide variety of styles. As a teenager, I learnt with a teacher from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Wessex Youth Orchestra but also involved myself in big bands, brass bands, concert bands and small jazz ensembles. I then moved to London and obtained my degree in Performance Jazz Studies. I am currently a brass teacher at the East London Community Band, The DaCapo Music Foundation and Wren Academy Finchley.

If learning an instrument and making music was not meant to be fun, it would not be called playing. I keep my lessons engaging by picking relevant pieces, exercises and games from tried and trusted resources, keeping the goals of each individual student in mind. I am very flexible and prepared to teach jazz and classical styles for students progressing through grades or learning purely for fun.
I am also keen to teach music theory, even as a stand-alone subject.
