About Koena
Hello and welcome! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you and help you succeed in your studies. With a strong commitment to your academic growth, I aim to provide a supportive and engaging learning experience that helps you build both understanding and confidence. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Law, as well as a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. While my academic background is diverse, I specialize in teaching physics and chemistry. I have four years of experience teaching small groups and one-on-one lessons across a variety of subjects, with a particular focus on helping students excel in the sciences. In our lessons, I will use a structured approach to ensure that you not only grasp the theoretical concepts but also gain the practical skills to apply them effectively. I believe that consistent practice, combined with clear explanations and guided application, is the key to mastering subjects like physics and chemistry. In my lessons, I use the "Present, Practice, Produce" (PPP) method. First, I present the key principles and concepts related to the topic. Then, I work through a few application questions with the student to ensure they understand how to apply these principles. Finally, I have the student practice independently to solidify their understanding of the topic and its application. I believe this approach is the most effective, as studies have shown that consistent practice is the key to improving outcomes in mathematics and science.
