About Luca

I am a 24-year veteran educator with extensive experience teaching AP World History, AP European History, AP U.S. History, and AP Government & Politics, as well as 15 years as a university lecturer. I am an IB Diploma Programme graduate, hold a Ph.D. in Political Science, and I am a Florida State Certified Professional Educator.

At the university level, I also specialize in Political Science, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, and Human Rights, giving students a strong foundation in analytical thinking, evidence-based argumentation, and academic writing.

As an AP World History Exam Reader, I help students understand not only what to study, but how the AP exam is scored in all three AP History subjects. I specialize in preparing students for SAQs, DBQs, LEQs, and FRQs, focusing on clear thesis writing, effective use of evidence, document analysis, and time-management strategies that earn points efficiently.

My teaching style is structured, supportive, and goal-oriented. I break down complex material into manageable steps, reinforce strong writing habits, and build student confidence under time pressure. Many students understand the content but struggle with organization or exam execution—this is where I consistently help them improve.

Parents appreciate my clear communication, accountability, and transparency about progress. Every session is tailored to the student’s specific course, teacher expectations, and exam goals, whether aiming for a top AP score or steady improvement.

My goal is to help students reduce stress, strengthen skills, and walk into their AP exams confident and prepared.

As a College Board AP World History Exam Reader, I can help students prepare for the three AP History Exams - AP World History, AP European History, and AP U.S. History - which means I know exactly what earns points—and what doesn’t—on SAQs, DBQs, and LEQs. I teach students how to think like scorers, structure their responses efficiently, and avoid the common mistakes that cost valuable points on exam day.

My approach is structured, supportive, and highly strategic. Many students understand the material but struggle with writing under time pressure, answering prompts precisely, or using evidence correctly. I focus on:

• Breaking down SAQ, DBQ, and LEQ rubrics in student-friendly language
• Teaching clear thesis writing and effective contextualization
• Coaching students on document analysis, sourcing, and evidence integration
• Practicing timed writing strategies to build confidence and accuracy

For AP Government & Politics, I emphasize constitutional reasoning, Supreme Court cases, foundational documents, and argument construction aligned with FRQ expectations.

As a longtime teacher and professor of Political Science and International Relations, I work comfortably with:
• High-achieving AP students aiming for 4s and 5s
• Students who feel overwhelmed and need confidence, structure, and clarity
• Parents looking for accountability, clear progress, and measurable improvement

Parents appreciate that I am organized, direct, and honest about student progress. I explain expectations clearly, reinforce strong habits, and help students build skills they can use beyond a single exam.

Whether your child needs full AP exam preparation, writing support, content review, or ongoing coaching during the school year, I tailor each session to their specific course, teacher expectations, and learning style.

My goal is simple: reduce stress, improve scores, and help students walk into the AP exam confident and prepared.

My rate is based on my years of teaching experience (24 years), my advanced degree (Ph.D.), my knowledge of the subject matter, my passing rate (e.g., 100% APWH students passed the 2025 Exam), and my experience as an AP Reader (I.e., I grade AP Exams). For HigherEd, the rate is based on 15+ years of teaching at the University  and College levels and on the number of publications in political science and international relations.
