About Mark
A former Big Brother in the national BBBS program, I have dedicated the last 33 years to teaching and mentoring. In 2019, I was in need of a life saving liver transplant. Forced to pursue a living donor, I was unable to find a suitable candidate from among friends and family. At my doctors' suggestion, I reached out to my former students. I'm delighted to say that 28 months later, that 2011 graduate and I are living our best lives! I hope that stands as my teaching legacy.

I have experience with American literature, English literature and Shakespeare, technology, virtual instruction and collaboration, including team projects. I employ a student-centered approach to teaching, toggling between current events and classroom content. I provide ample, positive feedback through the writing process, using peer review and editing to instruct.
As a lifelong mentor, I am a patient tutor using a team approach with families to reach goals. I have experience with 9-12 grade literature, as well as public speaking, debate, and film analysis. I have also been a select instructor for a Cambridge University(UK) global perspectives course.
