About Yara
With over 14 years of experience teaching piano both in-person and online, I bring a balance of warmth and professionalism to every lesson. I hold a **Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance**, and my academic training has shaped my belief in music as both an art and a lifelong skill. My teaching philosophy is built on **active participation**, helping students engage deeply with every note they play. I emphasise **musical intent** and the importance of playing with meaning, not just accuracy. Lessons are designed to foster **well-rounded musicianship**, blending technique, theory, history, and creativity so students understand the “why” behind the music. Over the years, I’ve successfully guided learners from complete **Beginners** to **Advanced** and even **Professional/Expert** levels. I adapt to each student’s needs, tailoring my methods so that every individual can progress at their own pace while feeling supported. For some, that might mean mastering finger technique and posture; for others, exploring the stories behind the pieces they love. My piano teaching approach blends structure with creativity to help every student grow with confidence. I start by focusing on **keyboard technique**, ensuring students build strong foundations in posture, hand position, and movement for effortless playing. From there, I weave in **ear training** to sharpen listening skills, so students can recognise melodies, harmonies, and rhythms with ease. I believe learning piano is more than memorising notes—it’s about connecting music theory to real playing. That’s why I guide students in **theory application**, showing how scales, chords, and harmony shape the music they love. I also place importance on **performance skills**, teaching how to overcome stage nerves, express emotion, and play with presence during recitals or auditions. My lessons are tailored for every kind of learner. I support those with big ambitions, helping them challenge themselves with advanced pieces, and I nurture those learning for joy, keeping the process light and inspiring. Each session mixes technical work with creative exploration, so progress always feels achievable and rewarding. Above all, I aim to create a safe, encouraging space where students of all ages can explore, express, and fall in love with the piano.
