About Laurie
A faint hum from an unplugged electric guitar usually greets you when we begin our diagnostic skills check. I build your entire lesson plan around the results of that initial assessment. We look at reading sheet music and mastering chord transitions to get your fingers moving correctly.
Strumming patterns and rhythm guitar are essential for anyone wanting to play with others. If you are a teen or a working professional, we tackle scales and modes at your own pace.
Tuning and maintenance are covered early on because a well-kept instrument changes everything. Lead guitar and barre chords are also on the table for those ready to move forward. My approach is to ensure you understand the mechanics before we rush into complex solos. I really enjoy helping hobbyists find their unique sound on the fretboard.

The smell of old guitar wood in my studio in Marseille still reminds me why I started playing 13 years ago. I hold a BM in Guitar from Concordia University, which keeps my technical knowledge sharp alongside my folk roots. You will find that I am quite energetic and honest about the challenges of the instrument.
It is just me and the guitar, keeping things very practical and grounded. I weave my background in Québécois folk into our discussions about theory.
Most students appreciate that I do not hide behind fancy academic jargon. I keep my approach hands-on, always focusing on what actually works for the player. It is a simple, direct way of learning that respects your time and effort. I prefer to keep things quite casual as we progress through the material.
