About Ruby
I am a passionate and dedicated teacher with years of experience teaching at all ages. My GCSE and A-Level tutoring has turned Ds into As and I have helped several undergraduates achieve first-class marks in English Literature, Comparative Literature, and Scottish Literature. My teaching approach depends largely upon the group size. For larger groups, I like to offer a mix of small group close reading (to allow shy individuals space to share their ideas) and wider class discussion where skills in debate are honed. For smaller sessions and one-to-one teaching, I like to cover general concepts (e.g. a discussion of form or theme), before tailoring the session to focus on the needs of the individuals with needs-based teaching. My general teaching is aimed at a university undergraduate seminar level, but I can easily adapt this to the appropriate stage. Regardless of size or level, I am always supportive, encouraging, and occasionally challenging to ensure my classes are both enjoyable and useful.

I am a doctor of the English language with a PhD in English Literature. I have taught undergraduate Literature classes at the University for 4 years and I have tutored privately with great success. My students have always achieved high grades - I am particularly proud of my 100% pass rate across all subjects. I generally offer one-to-one support but I can teach group sessions if requested.
