About Simon
Doctoral student and Yogi, student and instructor, with 15 years+ experience in various yogic traditions (Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Iyengar, Bikram), I have acquired a good sense of the historical and theoretical origins of yoga as well its more contemporary developments in the Western context throughout the twentieth century, particularly as it relates to mind/body and personal development.

Beyond a session of Yoga "Asanas" (postures), I combine the practice of yoga therapy with functional integration techniques and somatic movement in order to promote proprioception and the full body experience of each. . I try to adapt a teaching and a practice according to the needs of each one. The individual sessions are preceded by manual therapy techniques (bodywork) in order to reconfigure the musculoskeletal structure and the connective tissue system (fascia, ligaments and tendons) and by correcting alignment and posture problems. This has the effect of preparing the body for movements such as sun greetings or vinyasa flows combining Asanas (yoga postures). Collective sessions in small groups promote awareness through movement and personal exploration of one's body, in a rather slow and conscious pace. In order to prepare for a safe practice, the course generally begins with self-Myofascial Release and "trigger-point" release techniques with the use of tools such as balls and inline skates. Classes are offered in English or French, depending on student needs.
