About Mia
I graduated with a B.S. in Music Education from Belmont University in Nashville — one of the top music schools in the country — in 2019. During my time there, I was a member of the university's Concert Choir, Women's Ensemble, and participated in two studio recording projects as a session vocalist. After graduating, I worked as a part-time after-school music enrichment instructor for two years at a Nashville elementary school before moving fully into online private tutoring in 2021. Over the past 5 years of tutoring, I have taught singing and music to more than 55 students ranging from 5-year-olds just discovering music to adults in their 50s who always dreamed of learning to sing. I am trained in contemporary commercial music (CCM) vocal technique — a modern approach that is especially effective for pop, musical theater, and non-classical singers — and I completed a certification in early childhood music instruction in 2022. In 2023, two of my high school students were cast in their school's main stage musical after struggling in previous auditions, and one of my 7th-grade students performed an original song she wrote in our sessions at her school's talent show and won first place. I was recognized as a SuperProf Top Rated Tutor in Music for Nashville in 2024 based on student feedback and lesson completion rates. Music has been the greatest gift of my life — and every time I see a student discover their voice, I fall in love with teaching all over again.

OK so real talk — I grew up thinking I had a "bad" voice. I was the kid who mouthed the words in choir because I was too embarrassed to actually sing out loud. And then in 9th grade, I had a music teacher who sat with me one afternoon and just... helped me hear myself differently. That one hour changed everything for me. It is the reason I became a music teacher, and it is the energy I bring to absolutely every single lesson I teach. So if you are nervous, if you think you "can't sing," if you have been told your voice is not good enough — please come to my class. That is literally who I am here for. Here is what our lessons look like: we start every session with fun, easy warm-ups that feel more like games than exercises — humming, sirens, lip buzzes, gentle stretches — so your voice feels relaxed and ready before we even start on songs. Then we work on the actual skills: breathing from your diaphragm (I promise it is easier than it sounds!), staying on pitch, building your vocal range little by little, getting your tone to sound full and clear, and learning how to really perform a song — not just sing the notes, but feel it and connect with it. I teach music reading too, because being able to look at sheet music and understand what you are seeing is such a superpower — and I make it fun, I promise! We also work on music theory in bite-sized pieces so it never feels overwhelming. If you have a songwriting dream, I absolutely love working on original songs with students — from coming up with your first lyric idea all the way to a finished song you are proud of. And piano? Yes, I teach that too! Knowing basic piano alongside singing makes everything click faster. For my choir students — whether you are preparing for a school audition, a competition, or just want to improve your ensemble skills — I do targeted sight-reading practice, part-singing, and audition prep that has helped a lot of my students land roles and spots they were really nervous about. I teach pop, classical, musical theater, R&B, country (hey, I am in Nashville after all!), and everything in between. All online, all one-on-one, all at your pace. I cannot wait to cheer you on!
