About Leonard
As a singing tutor with 6 years of experience teaching school and college students, I bring a blend of scientific technique and emotional artistry to my lessons. Singing is both a craft and an art, and I’m passionate about helping my students master the mechanics of the voice while discovering their personal sound and style. I teach vocal technique from a foundation of voice physiology and acoustics—understanding how the breath, larynx, and resonators work together to produce healthy, efficient sound. My students learn about vocal registers, vowel shaping, resonance placement, and how to prevent strain during challenging pieces. But I don’t stop at technique—I also help students become storytellers, connecting deeply with their music to create memorable performances. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s vocal goals, experience level, and musical preferences. We build a customized vocal warm-up routine, select repertoire that aligns with their style, and set short-term and long-term performance goals. I encourage students to explore multiple genres—from operatic arias to pop ballads to jazz standards—and experiment with vocal expression through improvisation and stylistic interpretation. I integrate recording and playback analysis, digital vocal journals, and genre-based technique labs to make learning dynamic and measurable. My students often report greater vocal freedom, increased stamina, and a deeper connection to their musical identity. If you're looking for a tutor who can help you understand the “how” and “why” of singing while guiding you toward artistic authenticity, I’m here to support your journey. Let’s build your voice, your knowledge, and your creative confidence—one note at a time.

Singing is a process of revelation—of discovering how sound, thought, and emotion converge in the human voice. My role as a teacher is to help students build the technical, interpretive, and emotional skills needed to sing freely, sustainably, and with purpose. I begin with technical foundations, using breath-centered exercises and body-based awareness to build strength, coordination, and balance.
We focus on vocal production that is both efficient and expressive, addressing issues like registration, resonance tuning, breath pacing, and flexibility through carefully sequenced work. I believe technique should support individuality, not suppress it, so I adapt instruction to honor the student’s voice and artistic goals.
From there, we explore how to communicate meaning through the music. I coach students in interpretive analysis—examining structure, lyrical content, dramatic trajectory, and musical nuance. We use techniques drawn from acting, creative writing, and movement to uncover emotional authenticity and deepen performance practice. I also challenge students to reflect on the cultural and ethical dimensions of their repertoire.
What does this piece represent? How can it be approached with awareness and integrity? This not only deepens the interpretive process but broadens the singer’s understanding of their role in a larger artistic and cultural landscape. Perseverance is built into our work together. I teach students how to reflect on their process, set realistic goals, and manage the ups and downs of voice development with emotional intelligence.
Vocal growth requires patience and courage, and I strive to create a studio atmosphere that balances structure with compassion. I want each student to feel safe, seen, and supported. By combining technical rigor with expressive exploration and cultural inquiry, I help students become not just better singers, but deeper artists—capable of communicating their truth with clarity, purpose, and skill.
