About Joel
Born and raised on the Sunshine Coast, I have been in the music industry for over half of my life! Starting at age 11 with an initial country background, I have since played and sung songs from many genres including but not limited to: indie, rock, pop, reggae, blues, roots, rnb, but the list goes on!
I have been playing live on and off at pubs/cafes/competitions etc for over 10 years! As I continue to develop as a musician, more opportunities present themselves enabling me to tackle more styles and genres.
Completed Certificate 4 in Music through QLD TAFE in 2013, which gave me insight into breaking into the music industry, writing, stage presence, stage setup, on stage performance, studio recording and many other important aspects of the industry itself.
Passed level 3 in Australian music theory, so am able to help with early stages (1-3) of music theory!

Being a recipient of private tutorship in guitar, singing and music theory, I have minded my own style of teaching based off of my many tutors over the years. Lessons will start by figuring out what level my student is at. Once I am completely aware of this I will be able to start applying necessary methods, techniques and study notes based on my students needs desires and goals within the music industry. I am a firm believer in using passion to fuel practice. Therefore as well as giving my students lots of exercises and drills to hone their skills, we will start to learn real songs (of the students choice) to apply these techniques into real world use. This, for me, connects the musical knowledge learned, to our passion for music! In turn making learning any instrument as fun as it can be!
