  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I've loved music for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was constantly singing along to the radio and experimenting on the piano. But it wasn't until I started taking lessons with a teacher who truly saw my potential that I realized music could be more than just a hobby - it could be a career. Studying jazz in postsecondary helped me explore the depth of vocal expression and musicianship, and performing everything from funk and rock to R&B and pop has shaped me into the artist and teacher I am today.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Music is healing. It's a form of self-expression that can cut through pain, celebrate joy, and bring people together. I'm passionate about helping others find their voice - not just technically, but emotionally and artistically. Whether it's helping a student finally hit a note they've been struggling with or seeing them light up as they connect to the vocal skill behind a song, those moments make everything worthwhile.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I love meeting students where they are and guiding them at a pace that feels supportive and personalized. I start each voice student with an assessment so I can tailor warmups and song choices to their unique voice, and I structure piano lessons around each student's goals - whether that's classical training through the Royal Conservatory or learning their favourite pop songs. I don't teach in a one-size-fits-all way. I help students build skill and confidence, and I genuinely want them to grow into their own artistic identity. I think that's what makes me a "Superprof."
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes - my childhood music teacher made a huge impact on me. He encouraged me, challenged me, and most importantly, believed when I didn't fully believe in myself. We're still friends to this day, and his support planted the seed for how I now aim to show up for my own students: with empathy, high standards, and genuine care.
  • What are your keys to success?

Patience, consistency, and connection. I believe real progress comes from steady, intentional effort - and from creating a space where students feel safe to take risks and make mistakes. I also think being able to adapt - whether that's switching up a teaching method or meeting a student's emotional needs - is key. As a teacher and artist, staying passionate and connected to why I do this keeps me moving forward.
