About George
I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have learnt through a variety of different lessons styles as well as developing my own approach to self-tuition. With this experience we can easily find what suits you and help you develop the same approach to the learning process, achieving your goals, and avoiding the mistakes I have made along the way!
I am proficient in a variety of styles including Blues, Funk, Neo-soul, Pop, and Alternative with a growing knowledge of Jazz . I can help with intermediate theory and ear training to help learn songs without the assistance of notation or TAB.
I am a guitarist and songwriter in a number of local bands (TIKAL, Robyn Alvarez) have done session work for various artists including Will Eason and Zola Courtney and can also provide session and studio work.
I look forward to helping your start on your journey whether that's being a complete beginner or looking to define and personalise your sound!

My teaching is focussed on being able to equip you with the skills to educate yourself and help develop your sound and proficiency on the instrument without having to go through the grade system. This ultimately makes the learning experience more focussed on enjoyment and reaching personal goals rather than reaching the goals of others.
I have a logical but practical approach to teaching but at the same time pay creedence to the individual's learning styles to make for the most efficient use of time.
I am happy to cater to a wide variety of needs from people wanting to just learn songs for fun or looking for more skills based teaching. All of this we can discuss on the first lesson to make it the best experience possible.

George is not only a very talented guitarist, but an equally brilliant teacher. As a beginner guitarist, I would become frustrated quickly and easily, I then started working with George and found he has a great way of keeping you engaged, being patient, and explaining very clearly what to do. I would definitely recommend for any level of guitarist!
George is a top class player and brilliant music educator. I’ve picked up some great RnB guitar licks from him with clear and concise tuition. Would highly recommend!
As a fellow musician and guitar teacher, I can say that George is on an excellent level who understands the key principles of harmony, technique and rythym more than any of the other guitarists i've had the pleasure of playing with during my time in Cornwall. His previous work experience has provided him with brilliant one-to-one communication and his added background of phsycology allows him to further his mentoring into a personally tailored and efficient methodology.
George is an excellent, friendly, and patient tutor. He has an excellent knowledge of conversational Spanish which you couldn’t learn from using an app, and knows a lot of phrases he picked up from living in Spain. Could not recommend him any higher.
