About Andrew
Hello!
My name is Andrew Simmons. I have been playing guitar my whole life and I have a passion for teaching you how to play too.
I am self-taught, meaning that I know the struggle of looking at the chord charts and wondering how will I ever make my hand stretch like that. It also means I did it. I want you to know that you can do it too, and I want to help you get over every hurdle that is between you and guitar mastery.
Being self-taught I also know what doesn't work. There is a right and a wrong way to learning guitar. The trick, however, is that it is not the same for every person. I want to help you find your way of learning guitar and see you grow as you find your rhythm.

Hello!
I have had the privilege of teaching a wide variety of students. I have found that every student is unique from their goals, musical experience, and method of learning.
My first lesson is always a conversation. I want to get to know you and how you learn. Your goals will define the lessons. Some students want to learn to play specific songs, some wish to learn how to write songs, others want proficiency in theory to help their playing, and so on. Depending on your goal I want to teach you what you need to know, and we are going to have fun doing it!
I believe there are two main factors to proficiency with guitar, playing and understanding. I want to see both of these improve as you learn and grow. I find that some students lean towards one and some towards the other.
