About Amelia
I have been playing the acoustic guitar for 17 years and I've been songwriting for 10 years. My genre is primarily indie-folk, however, I can write in various genres. I didn't learn how to play the guitar traditionally by going through the grades as I believe an amazing knowledge in music theory isn't the be-all and end-all.

My teaching method for songwriting is by introducing different methods; using words from a news article to piece together a title, by writing for a scene of a film, by using different rhyming techniques etc. I graduated from my BA Hons Songwriting degree last year so I have been taught all of these techniques myself. I have toured around the UK and Europe and played at many UK festivals, including Glastonbury, and I would love to share that passion with my students. Like previously mentioned, I didn't learn how to play the guitar by going through every grade and the work alongside, if I liked a song I learnt how to play it, if I liked an artist I studied how they played, I don't think grades are essential. I connect the player with their passion for a genre and we go from there.
