About Randee

As an educator with a PhD in Anthropology and a BA in English Literature, my academic journey has given me an elite, comprehensive mastery of writing, critical analysis, and the social sciences. I don't just understand the subjects I teach; I have spent years successfully navigating the exact high-level academic environments, grading rubrics, and research demands that my students are facing right now.
To me, professionalism means absolute reliability, clear communication, and meticulous preparation. I arrive at every session on time, focused, and with a clear, tailored plan of action based on your specific goals. I provide transparent updates, constructive and actionable feedback, and respect your schedule entirely. I also maintain a distraction-free, highly organized digital learning space where our time is used efficiently to maximize your value and progress.
I understand that school can be incredibly overwhelming, and academic anxiety is often the biggest hurdle to a student's success. My primary goal is to transform that stress into confidence. Because I have spent years working as an instructor, teaching assistant, and mentor, I excel at meeting students exactly where they are without judgment.
I treat every mistake as a crucial learning data point, not a failure. When we work together, you are partnering with an expert who knows how to break down complex, intimidating assignments into clear, manageable steps. I am here to demystify the academic process, give you the practical tools to elevate your grades, and help you find your unique voice as a confident, independent scholar.

My teaching approach is rooted in Scaffolding and the Socratic Method. I do not simply provide answers; instead, I break complex academic hurdles down into manageable, structured steps. I help students visually outline arguments, whether they are structuring a high-school essay or analyzing a complex historical text. I then use guided questioning to prompt students to discover the next logical step in an argument or grammatical rule themselves. This builds their long-term confidence and independent critical thinking skills

I focus intensely on providing actionable feedback on writing mechanics, source analysis, and thesis development. I structure every session deliberately to maximize engagement and ensure measurable progress.
A typical hour-long session is structured as follows:
1. The first five to ten minutes focuses on checking in and goal-setting. We review previous concepts, addressing immediate questions from homework or upcoming exams, and defining exactly what success looks like for the current hour.
2. The next 20 minutes are spent working collaboratively through a specific text, essay draft, or conceptual framework. I model the analysis or structural technique first, then we tackle the next segment together.
3. The next 20 minutes are for independent practice; the student takes the lead on a new prompt or paragraph while I provide real-time, encouraging feedback and minor course corrections.
4. In the final ten minutes, the student summarizes the day’s core takeaways in their own words. We establish clear, actionable steps for what they need to focus on before our next session.

What sets me apart is my ability to bridge high-level, rigorous academic analysis with an empathetic, patient, and accessible communication style. Having served extensively in mentorship roles within diverse educational environments, I understand that academic anxiety is often the biggest barrier to a student’s success. I excel at creating a non-judgmental, inclusive space where students feel safe making mistakes, asking questions, and discovering their unique voice as writers and critical thinkers. I don't just teach the material—I teach the study habits and organizational strategies that help students thrive independently.

I offer comprehensive, specialized tutoring for a broad range of student levels and academic goals:
1. Middle & High School Students: AP/IB English Literature, English Language, Essay Composition, and Introductory Social Sciences (History, Cultural Studies).
2. Undergraduate College Students: College-level Essay Prep, Research Design, Literary Analysis, Academic Writing, and Foundational Anthropology/Sociology courses.

I specialize heavily in working with students who struggle with academic writing anxiety, thesis formulation, structuring research papers, and breaking down dense, complex reading assignments.
